Dedicated Holistic Support

Our program is not the run of the mill peer based counseling, preaching exclusively a one-size-fits-all 12 step approach.  We do offer exposure to and training in the 12 step method, but we realize that for many people this is not the best system.  We offer a program that leads to a Relapse Prevention Plan customized to meet the individual needs of each and every client.  In order to create the individual plan, our clients will receive daily one-on-one counseling with our New York State approved counselors which is essential to peel back the layers of “the onion” to expose what is really driving the undesirable behaviors.  Other clinical work is achieved through daily participation in off-campus AA/NA meetings, other in-house group activities, and when appropriate individual assignments to learn about oneself as well as various life, career, and learning skill’s. Throughout the week, we also conduct on & off-site recreational activities chosen by the clientele, which may include gym, hiking throughtout the Catskill Mountain and Hudson Valley  regions, picnics, sports, visiting historic Saugerties and Woodstock town centers, skiing, golfing, enjoying our 8 acre estate, etc…

A Needed “Mature” Approach to Treatment

We treat our clients as adults, eschewing infantilizing rules set by other programs to adhere to standard operating procedures instead of responding to the individual needs of clients. It is simply not practical to take away personal freedoms such as regular communication with positive family and friends (via cellular phone), use of personal laptops (WiFi is on site), or even smoking cigarettes (on our porch or patio). At NYRH, our clients are treated like adults. We have consistently found that people will live up to expectations and act responsibly if provided the opportunity to do so once they have committed to make an honest attempt to change their lives.  Further, we feel that facilities that do not permit these activities only setup their clientele to fail as soon as their clientele returns from treatment and picks up old behavior patterns.  We do have house rules that ensure smoking does not affect other residents, and “safe-use” policies regarding personal electronic usage.

Friendly Environment

New York Recovery Home staff are professional, responsive, and mindful of the challenges people with addictions face. When you come to our home, you become a part of our extended family. So long as we have an open bed, our doors are always open to former residents who may want to stop in for a night or two to help refresh and recharge.  Also we harness the state of the art social networking through www.AmityConnect.com , which allows for ongoing feedback and dramatically reduces chances of failure upon return to post-treatment living.

Individualized Attention

Our primary focus is providing you with personalized care. Using the APEX model (Assess, Plan, Execute), we first Assess your individual situation with you. Then, we collaboratively Plan the steps needed for your recovery. Finally, we EXecute the plan and restart the APEX cycle when necessary.
