“I paid 3 times as much in two other treatment centers.  I got massages and beach views.  Then I came (to NYRH), I spent alot less and got REAL results… I would recommend to anyone.  Thank you NYRH!” -Jennifer F.

“My experience at NYRH exceeded my expectations.  The staff did an amazing job in aiding my recovery through one-on-one sessions and activities.  I couldn’t have asked for a better place to get sober. They even let me bring my dog.  Thank You NYRH!” – Rebecca T.

Schedule of Activities

Recovery is not simple and therefore, you shouldn’t expect your visit here to be a vacation. That doesn’t mean we don’t have outstanding recreational opportunities.  Recreation is a necessary activity in every life and especially with those who find drugs or alcohol as their normal recreational outlet.

Our 28 day program is intense, but also rewarding. Unlike the other facilities that use Peer-To-Peer Counseling, our residents receive daily one-on-one time with our sobriety coaches, accredited counselors and/or the clinical director; participate in daily AA/NA meetings; participate in group activities; career development; and various training programs.

Throughout the week, we also conduct off-site recreational activities, which may include the following:

Hiking at Overlook Mountain – 17 Miles Away

Overlook Mountain is the southernmost peak of the Catskill Escarpment near Woodstock, NY. The hiking trail is a 5 mile roundtrip hike and takes about 3 hours. The trail follows a jeep road and is well marked. The trail takes you through the 590 acre Overlook Mountain Wild Forest area of Catskill Park. Along the way you will pass the ruins of the Overlook Mountain House, a resort hotel popular in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. One of the five remaining fire towers in the Catskill Mountains, the Overlook Fire Tower was constructed in 1927 on Gllis Hill, west of Kingston, New York. It was moved to Overlook Mountain to its present location in 1950. It was closed for safety reasons in 1988, but after repairs were made it reopened in 1999. You can climb the tower for a panoramic view of the area. Hiking the mountain, you will encounter the lulling music of waterfalls on the streams that flow down the mountain, the beautiful vegetation of the forest and the ruins of history. It is a great way to find yourself in the beauty of nature.

Picnic by the Water – Bristol Beach is only 4.1 Miles Away

In 1967, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation transferred Bristol Beach to the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. This former brickyard in the town of Saugerties, 12 miles north of Kingston, became a 53-acre park. Bristol Beach and the adjacent parcels were coveted for the commercial value of their location: between U.S. Route 9W, one of the region’s main north-south highways, and the west bank of the Hudson River, and with access to both. In keeping with renewed efforts to protect the waterfront from inappropriate development, PIPC expanded the park in the 1990s. With the cooperation of the former owner of the original parcel, Bristol Beach more than tripled in size to 165 acres. It remains undeveloped.

The Lazy Swan Golf Course – 2 Miles Away

The Lazy Swan golf course was designed by Golf Architect, Barry Jordon. It is a nine hole , championship caliber golf course set in beautiful passages of natural beauty featuring rock outcroppings, dramatic elevation changes, cascading ponds and reflection pools, an Alpine garden, and the beautiful Catskill Mountains as a backdrop. If you play golf, you will be enchanted by the peace and beauty of the landscape as well as the challenge of the course. If you don’t golf, you might enjoy just walking along the course to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Total Tennis – 2 Miles Away

Total Tennis has a 25-year-long reputation for high-quality tennis camps. Originally staged at a private school in Massachusetts, it moved to its own year-round site in New York’s Hudson Valley in the fall of 1997. Although the five-hour-a-day program remains unchanged—including the fact that you stay with the same pro throughout your visit—the quality of the experience has very much improved. So has the facility itself, which now has 25 courts in all, five of them indoors.

Visit Historic Saugerties – 4 Miles Away

Named one of the “coolest places to live”, Saugerties is a quiet town with a lot of charm and history.
